J is for John Lee Hooker & J'Davey

John Lee Hooker was an electric blues artist who was born in Clarksdale, MS. Best known for his song "Boom Boom",  Hooker was discovered by record store owner Elmer Barbee who took him to meet with Bernard Besman who a producer, record distributor and owner of Sensation Records, under this label he released his first recordings such as "Boogie Chillen" which was a number one jukebox hit and led to him selling a million copies of the single. He continued to have success, releasing hit song after hit song. He then went on to release 100 songs under the label of Vee Jay Records during the 1950s and 1960s.
  During the 1970s, Hooker moved to California where he began to turn more towards rock music. He worked with rock musicians like Van Morrison and the Canned Heat and he collaborated with him on various albums and tours. He even made an appearance in the hit movie classic "The Blues Brothers" continuing to grow critical acclaim, growing his fan base, going on to appear on talk shows like "The Tonight Show" and "Late Night With David Letterman" and many more. His work also went on to influence many artist of the younger generation who saw him a founder in electric blues.
    He was inducted into the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame in 1991 and received a star in 1997 in the Hollywood Walk Of Fame. He also was honored with receiving Grammy Awards for "Best Traditional Blues Recording" and for "Best Pop Collaboration" for "Don't Look Back" with Van Morrison. Hooker passed away on June 21, 2001, leaving his mark as an iconic blues legend.

J'Davey is an Alternative R&B/Rock/Funk Duo from Los Angeles, CA, the group formed in 1999,where they were introduced to one another by a mutual friend. The duo is comprised of lead vocalist Jack Davey (real name Briana Cartwright) and Keyboardist/producer Brook D'Leau. This duo mixes various genre's of music to create their sound; a mix between Neo soul, Alternative rock, Funk and Pop. They began doing live shows around the United States growing their fan base; while making a name for themselves they went on to have their music featured in television shows like "CSI: New York" and "Entourage" and even getting the chance of a lifetime to perform with Prince.
   After signing a deal with Warner Brothers, they began recording and released their debut in 2007; a compilation album titled "The Beauty In Distortion/Land Of The Lost". There time with Warner Bros. Records was short lived and eventually the duo left Warner over personal disputes. They went on to release their debut album under their own label "iLLaV8r" titled "New Designer Drug" in 2011. Taking a break for a while, the duo announced recently that they had come back together to release a new single called "Pomp" earlier this year, which seems to be a hit in the making. The duo continues to make music and perform shows around the U.S.
