I wasn't familiar with Rachel until I saw the movie The Craft a movie about a girl who moves to L.A and becomes friends with three other girls who are in a coven and they use magic together to gain what they want in their lives but it comes with a price. (sorry, didn't mean to sound so dramatic, lol but I really get into movie like these).
It wasn't until I did some more searching and found out that she got her start in acting during the 1980s when she appeared in a few episodes of The Cosby Show, I never realized it until I went back and looked at a few of those episodes. She went on to movies like CB4 alongside Chris Rock and Embrace of the Vampire with another one of my favorite actresses Alyssa Milano(#Girl Crushhh). I really loved her in the show Half and Half which centered around two sisters who have the same dad but different mothers and they try to figure out how they can co-exist with each other.
Mostly everything that I've seen Rachel True in, I liked. I think what I admire most about Rachel True is that she doesn't seem to take typical acting roles, I like that she Half and Halfspreads herself out and isn't one dimensional like some actresses are. I loved her quirkness in The Craft and on the Show Half and Half because they were characters I could relate to.
Rachel in her own words:
" As far as developing a career as an actress, I think it's a fine balance between trying to just work, and also be true to yourself."
" So now I feel I'm lucky in the respect that I can sort of pick a little more carefully, which is tricky because as a black actress, there aren't that many roles to pick from."
...Isn't she awesome!
